Less expensive: Visiting an urgent care clinic is less expensive than visiting an emergency room, and you won’t have to wait for hours and hours to be seen by a healthcare provider. We accept many insurance plans and offer affordable self-pay packages for those without insurance.
Discretion: At Urgent Care + TeleHealth, you won’t get any letters sent to your home or work like you may with a primary provider. We won’t send any treatment records to your employer or employer-based health insurance plan, unless requested by patient or patient desires to use their own personal insurance to pay for visit. Our providers take the time to answer your questions about the testing process, results and available treatment options if you are diagnosed with an STD.
Treatment: Some labs only provide STD testing and all treatment must be done elsewhere. Urgent Care + TeleHealth provides help beyond testing. If your STD test is positive, our providers can begin your treatment plan here at our clinics
STD Testing and Treatment Q & A
Why Get Tested for STDs?
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) often have no symptoms. Therefore, testing is the only way you’ll know for certain if you have an STD or an STI. If left untreated, STDs and STIs can have serious, lifelong consequences. Early and regular STD testing and prompt STD treatment can prevent many of these complications. At our urgent care clinics, we serve patients located in Napa, Sonoma, Benicia, Vallejo, American Canyon and the surrounding areas of the San Francisco Bay Area and the Wine Country. Our convenient hours and locations make us the right choice for all of your urgent care and sexual health needs.
What Types of STD Testing Do You Offer
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all sexually active people get tested for STDs. In our urgent care clinic, we offer a full range of STD testing for residents of Napa, Sonoma, Benicia and the surrounding communities. The types of STDs we test for include the following:
Genital Herpes
Genital herpes infections are highly transmissible. While condoms protect against many STDs, genital herpes can be spread through direct contact with the genitals, even if condoms are used. Your provider may do a blood test or scraping of an ulcer to detect a genital herpes infection if requested by the patient..
Chlamydia and Gonorrhea
We offer in clinic PCR testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea for males and females. For males, a urine test or a swab test may be done. For females, vaginal swab testing may be performed.
HIV and Hepatitis
We offer Rapid in clinic finger stick blood tests for men and women at risk of HIV infections. If a rapid test is positive, we collect a blood sample for PCR testing.
Syphilis
Syphilis is a bacterial infection. To test for it, we collect a fingerstick blood sample, if positive, we will initiate treatment.
Trichomonas
This is a protozoan that can cause inflammation of the vaginal walls, and a foul odor.
Which STDs Are Diagnosed and Treated At Urgent Care + TeleHealth?
We diagnose and treat STDs, such as Herpes, gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, syphilis, Trichomoniasis, Pubic Lice. We also treat non sexually related conditions such as bacterial vaginosis, candida (yeast infections). We also diagnose and treat epididymitis, prostatitis, and thrush.
How Is STD Testing Performed?
We offer finger-stick, whole blood and urine tests. Some STD tests require a vaginal or penile swab.
Is STD Testing Covered By Health Insurance?
Yes, most health insurance plans cover STD testing. Your insurance may have a copay or deductible. If you don’t have health insurance or haven’t reached your deductible, we have affordable self-pay packages.
How Long Does It Take to Get STD Test Results?
We understand that you may feel anxious or worried while waiting for your results. Most results are available within 60 minutes of the test. For PCR confirmation tests, results are available within a few business days.
When Can I Start STD Treatment?
If any of your STD tests are positive, we offer immediate care in our clinic. We can also notify your sexual partner or partners and offer them treatment in our facility. Concurrent treatment reduces the risk of re-infection.
How Will I Receive My STD Results?
You may wait in our clinic or in your vehicle for your results, which should be available within 60 minutes. We offer oral and printed results. We can also email your results to you if you’re not able to wait in the clinic.
How Will You Protect My Personal Health Information?
At Urgent Care + TeleHealth, we take your privacy seriously. We use an electronic medical record (EMR) from a nationally known company that uses multiple layers of cybersecurity protection. All of our internal documents are locked. We use secure shredding services to destroy printed copies of test results on a weekly basis.
