We have five different types of Rapid and Standard Covid-19 test options.
*At this time, we are unable to accept Medi-Cal, Alameda Health Plan, Contra Costa Health Plan or Partnership Health Plan for COVID testing.
Rapid COVID-19 RT-PCR Test (Self-Pay Only)
Send-out COVID PCR Test (Self-Pay or Insurance)
Rapid COVID-19 Abbott One NAAT Test (Self-Pay or Insurance)
Rapid Antigen Test (Self-Pay or Insurance)
Antibody Test (Self-Pay or Insurance)
*Most insurance companies have reinstated copays and deductibles for COVID visits. Depending upon your insurance plan, you may be responsible for your copay at the time of your visit. If you have symptoms or were exposed your testing is covered by insurance; however, depending upon your insurance plan coverage and deductible, there may be out-of-pocket costs you will be responsible for. If you do not have symptoms or were not exposed, and need the results for travel, work, or school release, then the cost is not covered by insurance and is out-of-pocket.
Self-pay rapid testing with Urgent Care & Telehealth is a fast, convenient option where you can register from your phone and pay in our office for the test alone. The test is performed by a medical assistant and you are not evaluated by a Doctor or PA. By scheduling a rapid test, you are acknowledging that you do not want to see a Provider today and you do not want to seek reimbursement from your insurance carrier or the government. You understand that services purchased today are solely your financial responsibility. We will not be able to provide certain information that some insurance companies require for reimbursement such as a diagnosis code or provider NPI.
Please give us a call or schedule a visit in Napa, Sonoma, or Benicia and a provider will help you determine which test is appropriate for your situation.
Rapid COVID-19 Testing
1. Contact Us First
Give us a call or Schedule a video or in-person visit online so that we can assess your symptoms and determine the appropriate test for you.
2. Nasal Swab
A medical provider will meet with you in the clinic and will carefully collect a mucus sample from your nose and throat.
3. Sample processed
If you choose a rapid test, the swab and sample is processed at our in-house lab using either the rapid molecular ID Now machine which analyzes and replicates the DNA present in the sample or the Accula RT-PCR machine which is a molecular in vitro diagnostic test utilizing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and lateral flow technologies for the qualitative, visual detection of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA.
4. Know if you are positive or negative
Get peace of mind knowing your results within the same day. (Timing of the results depends upon when you take the test. Please ask us for more information.)
COVID-19 TESTING Q & A
What is a rapid COVID-19 Test?
We offer several rapid test options including a molecular-based test and an RT-PCR that allows patients to see their results within approximately four hours. The rapid test is an advantage over the traditional lab-based test because lab-based tests often take days before results are determined. The sooner people know whether they are infected and potentially contagious, the sooner they can be treated, self-isolate and help prevent community spread.
How do rapid COVID-19 tests work?
Samples are collected by a qualified medical provider at our clinics in Napa and Benicia. We take every precaution to keep you safe and comfortable while we administer the test through a nasal swab. Once upper respiratory samples are collected, we process the results at our clinic while you wait.
What type of rapid COVID-19 test do you administer at Urgent Care + Telehealth?
At Urgent Care + TeleHealth, we offer three rapid tests:
- Rapid COVID-19 RT-PCR test: This real time PCR COVID test provides results within 24 hours and often sooner using our in-house lab equipment. It is also suitable for international travel clearance.
- Rapid COVID-19 Abbott One NAAT test: This rapid test provides results within four hours using our in-house lab equipment. It is also suitable for job & school release, nursing home visits or pre-surgery screening. The Abbott test may be acceptable for international travel but you must check with your airline or Country tourist bureau.
- Rapid Antigen Test: We carry the in house Antigen test for symptomatic patients who need to know immediately if they have the COVID antigen. Covid results will usually be ready in approximately 4 hours.
Is the rapid COVID-19 FDA approved?
The Abbott Labs ID Now test meets the FDA’s emergency use authorization (EUA). We also offer a send-out lab-based PCR test. This PCR test is the gold standard and is ideal for international travel, job & school release, nursing home visits or pre-surgery screening. It provides quick results in 36-48 hours and sometimes sooner.
Do I need a doctor’s referral for the test?
No. We ask that you begin the process with a telehealth visit. Our providers will assess your symptoms prior to the test.
Is the test covered by insurance?
In most cases, the test is fully covered. Some insurance companies have reinstated copays for COVID visits. Depending upon your insurance plan, you may be responsible for your copay at the time of your visit. If you do not have symptoms or were not exposed, and need the results for travel, work, or school release, then the cost is not covered by insurance and is out-of-pocket. Please contact us in advance so that we can verify coverage.
