A Pre-Op or pre-surgery physical is required to make sure that you’re healthy enough for your upcoming surgical procedure.
Most surgeons require that you obtain a Pre-Op exam within 30 days of your procedure. This gives time for any labs, imaging, ECG, etc can be reviewed by a medical provider . It also ensures that the surgeon or anesthesiologist has adequate time to review the results of your Pre-Op exam and ensure that you have normal results that would allow the surgery to proceed. Pre-Operation Physical FAQ
What Does the Healthcare Provider Look for in a Pre-Op Physical?
During a Pre-Op physical, your Urgent Care + TeleHealth provider will check your vital signs. The healthcare provider also checks your height and weight. The medical provider will perform a physical exam. If you are a female of child-bearing age, you may be required to take a urine pregnancy test or provide a blood sample for a pregnancy test. You may have a chest X-ray . An ECG test, which tracks your heart rhythm, is also part of the Pre-Op physical. Some pre-surgical physicals also require other blood tests, such as blood typing, liver enzyme tests and blood chemistry tests. Pre-Op physicals also require a COVID test.

Do I Need an Appointment?
While it’s best to make an appointment, we offer a wide range of hours for walk-in patients. You can come in before or after work, during your lunch break or on the weekend for your pre-surgery physical. Your surgeon can fax us the forms for what they need, or you can bring in physical copies of the forms when you visit us. Moreover, if you have results of your labs, X-Rays, etc, from outside vendors, we can accept those as well.
